2009
12/14/2009: The iPhone app we designed for Redbox (in-store DVD rental kiosks) is #17 in Top Free Apps at iTunes! It helps you find and reserve movies at any location.
11/30/2009: Just launched the new site for the real estate development Alta at Kstation. We’ll post a case study soon. In the mean time, visit the site.
9/29/2009: The imagery for New Leaf Theatre’s upcoming season is a little “darker” than usual—but fitting for “The Man Who Was Thursday” and “Curse of the Starving Class.”
9/28/2009: Welcome to our brand new site. It has a bunch of new info for you to explore about us and our process. We hope the most interesting new addition is “The Creative Brief” which has articles on a range of topics concerning graphic design and branding.
09/21/2009: We just completed another t-shirt design for Iron and Wine. Here, is another one we did recently. And check out the web site or posters we did for them, too.
09/08/2009: Hazen designs typefaces, too. Click here to see images of a poster announcing “Massive”, our boldest effort yet.
5/11/2009: We just completed a new poster-mailer we Northwestern. It's to promote their summer music theater festival. It has a fun, loose layout and a bright, summery feel.
3/30/2009: Shawn just returned from Des Moines where he judged the Art Directors Association's annual exhibit. He also gave a presentation to association members. He showed Hazen's work from this year and talked about his philosophy.
3/19/2009: The fun poster we did for the launch party for EPIC. It was screenprinted in the brand's new colors by Screwball Press in Chicago.
3/2009: Shawn just launched another blog. That makes—well, we've lost count. But this one is devoted to his obsession with graphic book cover design from the 60s and 70s, mostly. Check out BookWorship.com.
2/28/2009: We've just been informed that 4 of our logos will be included in the first book in a new logo reference series by the LogoLounge folks. They've selected HazCom, Apogee, and two of Hazen's own H symbols.
2/3/2009: The design blog Design Feast just published an interview with Shawn Hazen where he talks about his design process, gives advice to those starting out, and explains what he thinks makes great design. Read it.
1/2009: The new site for Iron and Wine is live. A technically robust site, it has some texture to match the music.
