About
A brand’s visual identity is its most immediate form of expression. We bring brands to life through thoughtful design—primarily through logos, websites, and printed materials.
Design is integral to how a brand shows up in the world—whether through its communications, its product, or its presence in the marketplace. We use design to define personality, clarify messaging, and build trust through intelligent, intentional choices.
Our work combines strategic thinking with strong visual instincts and disciplined execution. We tailor every solution to the medium—identity, print, or web—ensuring the final product is both elevated and approachable.
Based in Seattle, we collaborate with clients locally and globally.

Shawn is immensely talented and you’ll find no designer with as much versatility. Shawn is super communicative, extremely flexible and fast, full of great ideas—and just a pleasure to work with. Can’t recommend him highly enough.

I can’t imagine being able to (or wanting to) do my job without Shawn. He is patient with a great sense of humor, and people seek me out to ask who does our design and to compliment his work.

Not only did Hazen Creative meet my expectations, but Shawn Hazen proved as dynamic a thinker as anyone I worked with. I couldn’t be happier with the work Hazen Creative has done for us and the end result of our partnership.

About Shawn
Hazen Creative was founded by designer Shawn Hazen, whose career spans brand, editorial, and digital design at some of the most influential companies in the industry.
Shawn began at MetaDesign in San Francisco, where he worked across web and print, honing a systems-thinking approach to visual communication. He then moved into editorial design—first at Chronicle Books, and then as the founding Senior Designer at Dwell Magazine, helping to shape the magazine’s visual identity from its inception.
He went on to become Art Director at Apple, where he developed design solutions across packaging, retail, collateral, and digital media. Later, as Design Director at Remedy in Chicago, he led brand and identity work for clients in the health and wellness space. During this time, he also founded Hazen Creative, building a studio focused on branding and editorial design that continues today in Seattle.
Shawn’s work blends precision and personality—whether he's designing a book, building a brand, or refining a typographic system. His work has been recognized by Communication Arts, Print, I.D., and the Society of Publication Designers, and appears in numerous design books and industry publications. He has taught design in both San Francisco and Chicago, and remains deeply committed to craft, clarity, and concept in everything he makes.

The Process
Every project is different, but they all follow these same basic steps:
Exploration
We start with a focused brainstorm—discussing goals, expectations, and possible directions to explore.
Design
We create three or more distinct design directions. You respond, we discuss, and a clear creative direction begins to take shape.
Refinement
The chosen concept evolves over a few rounds. We fine-tune the details, establish the final direction, and prepare final files for handoff.
